FPL supports two book clubs, Fiction Only Book Club (FOBC) and Booked for Lunch Michigan (BFLM), by purchasing multiple copies for the collection, having scheduled book discussion on the selected books and by extending the check-out period (one month) without needing to be renewed until the next book club meeting. New members are welcome. Join in!
Fiction Only Book Club (FOBC)
The FOBC meets the third Wednesday of the month from 12PM to 1PM.
Members read interesting, thought-provoking books about different cultures, ethnicities, religions, and race. Lively, engaging discussions always ensue. If there is time, we end with a discussion of which books we’ve read and would recommend. New members are always welcome. Look for FOBC meetings in the Events calendar to see what book we are reading!
Evening Readers Book Club (ERBC)
The Flint Public Library’s newest book club meets the third Thursday of the month from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Each month, a fiction or non-fiction book is selected based on a quarterly theme. This book club is ideal for readers who like to read different genres and books about various topics. Look for ERBC meetings in the Events Calendar to see what book we are reading.
Booked for Lunch Michigan (BFLM)
Meet Michigan authors or authors who write about Michigan. Authors will discuss their (In-person and virtually) books, writing style, answer audience questions, and sell and sign books. Look for BFLM dates in the Events calendar!
Michigan Notable Books
The Michigan Notable Books annual list features 20 books, published during the previous calendar year, which are about, or set, in Michigan or written by a Michigan author. Selections span diverse topics and genres, both fiction and nonfiction.
MNB is a program of the Library of Michigan. Find the current and all past year’s selections on the Michigan Notable Books website.
