Letters from Our Fighting Men is a collection of brief notes and photographs of 48, mostly Michigan men, serving in the U.S. Military in World War II. In civilian life they worked for the Fisher Body Division of General Motors in locations across the nation, but mainly in Michigan and the Flint area. The letters are short and upbeat, reflecting the greatest generation’s “just do it “attitude and the bond they shared as a people with a common goal.

The small booklet was in a folder of General Motors’ material and recognized by staff as a unique piece of local history. The Library would like to thank General Motors for allowing us to post this work during the month of November as a tribute to the men and women who served in the military and at home working together as a nation in 1944.
