UM-Flint’s Community Writing Center, the Rough Draft Café, provides writing support services to community members.

Join us for an interactive drama workshop with our friends from the Flint Community Players. Kids ages 8-12 work together to build improvisational skills, storytelling abilities and use the library stage to put on fast and fun plays!

Thursday July 24: Painting: Join us for a night of creativity as we follow along and create our own painted masterpieces.

Join us for silly and traditional family games and bubbles on the lawn!

Let’s eat pizza and talk about the graphic novel Twins by Varian Johnson. Stop by the children’s desk to get a free copy to keep.

Celebrate the end of our Summer Reading Challenge on the library lawn with fun for everyone. Try the bounce house, inflatable basketball, face painting, and balloon art. Meet a mermaid and a princess!

In partnership with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, and with the support of Genisys Credit Union and The Friends of the Flint Public Library, Gloria Coles Flint Public Library now hosts a food pantry for all patrons.

Ages 8-12
Live out your fantasy and play Dungeons and Dragons with other kids, no experience necessary. Special thanks to the Dungeons and Dragons Club at Mott Community College for running these campaigns.

Ages 13+
Mages, warriors, rogues, and bards welcome! Play Dungeons and Dragons with other Teens, no experience necessary. We are grateful to the Dungeons and Dragons Club at Mott Community College for running these campaigns.

Thursday July 31: Renaissance Faire Gone Wrong: Join us for an evening of twisted Renaissance Faire games out on the front lawn. Join an eating contest, test your aim, and prepare to get a little wacky!

Donate your gently used books, CDs, and DVDs. 

Drive up to the garage door and we will help you unload.

Let’s read, play, sing, talk, count and write our way through summer. Practice the parts of early literacy with us. Have lunch and make new friends with us on the beautiful library lawn.

Explore your world through gardening. Have fun learning about the environment and develop your ability to grow your own food. Ages 8-12 in coordination with Michigan State University Extension and 4H.

Join an intergenerational book club for 6-10 year olds and their grands (-mas, -pas, -aunts, -uncles). We will have dinner, dessert, and new books each meeting for you to keep. Journals and extended activities will also be provided.

Thursday Aug 7: Teen Advisory Board ~ Karaoke/Open Mic Night: Join TAB to give librarians guidance about better serving teens and creating library programs, then stay and share an original piece or perform a favorite song.

Adults and children join Jordan Barnett from ARTxtension, enjoy light refreshments and create a masterpiece! Bring your imagination, and we'll provide the materials. Unleash your creativity and express yourself through painting.
