"Buildings of Flint" is a project done by Shawn Lawrence's Civics Class at Central High School in December of 1999. The students did research on their chosen buildings and when appropriate, they linked the building to the famous person in Flint whose name is preserved on the building's facade. The buildings in this project are: Alfred P. Sloan Museum, Bower Theater, Civic Park Community School, Flint Central High School, Flint High School, Flint Institute of Art, Flint Institute of Music, Flint Academy, , Flint Technical High School, Hurley Hospital, James A. Whiting Auditorium, Mott Community College, , Northern High School, Northwestern High School, Robert T. Longway Planetarium, Sarvis Food Center, St. Joseph Hospital, Whaley Historical House, Williams Elementary School.

The "Civics Project" is a result of work done by Shawn Lawrence's Sophomore Civics Class at Central High School in April, 1999. Those figures included in the study are William Atwood, Floyd Clack, Henry Howland Crapo, Robert L. Emerson, Dale E. Kildee, Dr. Jesse L. Leach, Jack Minore, Charles Stewart Mott, Arthur E. Summerfield, William Paterson, Edward Hughes Thomson, and Roger B. Townsend.

The Automotive History Update Project was conducted during the summer of 1998 with funds from the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. High school students organized the Flint Public Library's Auto History Biography File and built timeline sketches for some of the individuals who contributed to Flint's leadership role in the development of the automobile.

 

The Greater Flint Afro-American Hall of Fame (GFAAHF) was established in 1983 to celebrate the achievement of outstanding black athletes from the Flint area. GFAAHF entries on this timeline run from 1985 to present.
