How do I get a library card?
Any resident of the City of Flint or the State of Michigan may apply for an Flint Public Library card. You can apply for a card in person at any Flint Public Library branch. A current Driver's License or State of Michigan Identification card must be shown. People under the age of 18, who do not have their own Michigan Driver's License or Identification Card must have a parent or legal guardian present to get a card at the time that they apply.

How do I see what my child/spouse/etc. has checked out?
We value your privacy. Each Flint Public Library cardholder has the right to privacy in the use of his or her library card. No one is permitted to use or receive information about another person's library card without written consent from the cardholder. The Michigan Library Privacy Act prohibits library staff from disclosing information about a library record "without written consent of the person liable for payment for or return of the materials in the library record." Patrons may use only their own cards to check out materials, unless a written consent form is on file allowing them to check out materials for another. You can file a consent form at any Flint Public Library branch. Both persons mentioned on the consent form must be present.

How do I find a book (CD/movie/etc.)?
Click here to search the library catalog. You can search by Title, Author, Subject or Keyword.

How do I renew a book (CD/movie/etc.)?
From the Account Overview page, click on "Items Out." You will see a list of items checked out to you. Choose the items you would like to renew and click "Renew." You cannot renew overdue items online. To renew overdue items, please call (810) 232-7111.

How do I reserve a book (CD/movie/etc.)?
Search for the item you want to reserve in the online catalog. Click the "Request Item" button. You will be asked for your library card number and 4-digit PIN. Once you have logged in, choose the library branch where you'd like to pick up the book. Then click "Request." Remember to logout when you are finished.

How do I reserve a computer?
You can reserve a computer in person at any Flint Public Library branch. You will need the barcode from your Flint Public Library card, your PIN (Personal Identification Number) and an up-to-date patron record (renew yearly.)

You can also reserve a computer in advance, over the phone, by calling (810) 249-2569. You will need the barcode from your Flint Public Library card and an up-to-date patron record (renew yearly.) You are permitted one advanced reservation each week.

How do I print from a library computer?
You can print in black and white or in color from the library printer. Black and white prints cost $0.10 per page and color prints cost $0.25 per page. Use your Flint Public Library card or purchase a print card to pay for printing.
