The Changing Face of Saginaw Street:
The New Saginaw Street Arches, 2003
On the 29th of November 2003, Flint,
Michigan celebrated the return of the historic Saginaw Street
arches 104 years to the day of the first dedication ceremony.
Just as the original arches were a gift to the city from merchants,
businessmen and the Central Labor Union, the new arches are a
gift to the city from: The United Auto Workers, Buick Motor Company,
Citizens Bank, The Flint Journal, Bank One, Gordon Fleming,
The Bishop Trust, The Whiting Foundation, Don Johnson and the
Flint Rotary Club. Below are thumbnails showing the installation
and dedication of the arches, followed by views of downtown Flint
a few days after the celebration.
