Michigan students who attend public schools are expected to take MEAP (Michigan Educational Assessment Program) tests beginning in elementary school. Home schoolers can use these books as a reference to determine what children should be taught at certain grade levels.

Michigan Department of Education: Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCE), Standards, and Benchmarks

Michigan Department of Education has created grade level content expectations, standards, and benchmarks for certain content areas and grade levels. Click "Curriculum & Instruction" on the left-hand side of the page.

GLCE provides Michigan K-8 educators with a means to better align what is taught in the classroom with what is tested in the classroom.
Academic standards and benchmarks clearly define what students should know and be able to do at certain points in their schooling to be considered proficient in specific academic areas.
Michigan Merrit Curriculum defines a common set of required credits for graduation and provides educators with a common understanding of what students should know and be able to do for credit.

GLCE: K-8 Content Expectations:
Contains Mathematics, English/Language Arts and Health Education content expectations. Social Studies content expectations have been developed and are currently under review by the Michigan State Board of Education.
GLCE: Grade Level Content Expectations Parent’s Guide:
Gives parents an overview of Grade Level Content Expectations for Kindergarten – 8th grade in the areas of English/Language Arts and Mathematics in an easy to understand format.
High School Course/credit content Expectations:

Available for English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Health-Physical Education, Visual, Performing and Applied Arts, and Online Experience.
Technology Content Standards:
Contains technology standards and expectation levels for grades K- 12.
Career and Employability Standards:
Created in conjunction with Michigan business leaders, this document contains standards for grades
K-12 that will help students prepare for careers and the workforce.
Michigan Curriculum Framework:
Created to assist educators design, implement, and assess curricula, this document contains standards and benchmarks for grades K-12 that home schoolers can use to gauge progress. Also available in the library (Michigan History 375 Mi)
Remember: Grade Level Expectations are not available for all grades and content areas
