Civil War 150th Anniversary

To commemorate the 150 anniversary of the Civil War the Flint Public Library is looking for copies of photographs of Civil War soldiers who served or lived in Michigan.  A digital copy must be included with the application or patrons may bring in a photo to be scanned on one of the scanning days listed below. If the patron would like a digital copy of their photo, they must bring a flash drive with them or purchase one at the main library desk. Flash drives cost $8 for a 2 gb drive. The photographs and a brief biographical sketch detailing the veterans’ service will be displayed in the Library’s Reading Room during the months of June and July 2011. Applicants must complete the submission form by April 30, 2011 for their material to be included in the Library’s exhibits. Preference will be given to those veterans who have a Flint or Genesee County area connection.

Scanning days are:
Wednesday, February 2, 3-4 PM
Thursday, March 24, 2-3 PM
Thursday, April 14, 4-5 PM
Tuesday, May 3, 5-6 PM
