to Catalog Page How to Use the Flint Public Library's
Web Catalog
& Renew Your Materials Online 1. How to I get to the catalog?
The library catalog is accessible over
the Internet at the following address:
http://207.74.108.22:8080
2. Who can use the catalog?
Anyone can search our catalog,
but only holders of Flint Public Library cards can check their
accounts and reserve materials. To log into your patron account,
you will use the barcode numbers from the back of your Flint Public
Library card. 3. Is it easy to search?
Yes. Most people can start with a Basic Search for the title, author,
or subject of the materials you're looking for. The Basic Search
screen is the first one you see when entering the catalog. If
you wish to use other search features, click the options for
either Keyword Search or Advanced Search.
4. How do I log in to
my account?
Click
the tab "Your Account" at the top of the catalog page.
Have your Flint Public Library card handy, because you will need
to log in using the barcode on the back of the card:

5. How do I renew my materials?
First
log into your account (see 4 above), then click the item "Checked Out" to
view the list of items in your account.
Next, click to make a checkmark
in each box next to the items to be renewed, then click the Renew
button. If your items cannot be renewed
online, there may be a "hold" or "block" on your account. This
is common and can happen if we are holding reserved materials for
you or you have some materials overdue. If this happens, just call
the Library during our open hours to find out what is causing the
block and to renew your materials. (Library
hours and phone number at this link.)
5. How do I receive
my "reserve" and "overdue" notices by e-mail?
First log into your account (see 4 above), then click the item "Profile" to
view your patron profile.
 Most
items in your patron profile cannot be changed except by library
staff, but the e-mail address is something you can change yourself.
Scroll down until you see the area shown below. Type your email
address in the box and click the Update button. You will be
"popped" to the top of the page. Scroll down again to make
sure your email address is displayed in the box - this means
your patron record has been updated, and you will receive all
future
notices
by e-mail.
 Note:
If your e-mail address is not reachable by our system, the
system
will try several times and then generate a paper notice.
