Children's Services

The Children's Library at the Main Library has almost 50,000 items selected especially for children from birth through grade 8 -- picture books -- pleasure reading -- school project material -- videos -- reference books. Our programming includes storytime for young children and a Bookie Babies series for babies and their parents. Children can come to the library for crafts, puppet shows, magicians and, of course, the Summer Reading Club!

Computers with high-speed Internet access provide children with an opportunity to practice computer skills and access online information for school work and pleasure. Our web page especially for children guides them to appropriate and useful resources on the Web.

The Children's Room Skill Center is an area with educational games for the younger ages. Children can practice reading, play math games and enjoy using a computer at the library.

Young visitors to the Children's Room can visit the Library Fish, or spend time in the Children's Garden, especially in summer, when we have programs to "taste the garden, smell the garden and see the garden."

All Flint Public Library branches have services for children, including storytime, crafts and other programs like the Summer Reading Club. Children can browse large collections of books especially selected for them at all our branches.
